A knee dislocation occurs when the three bones of the knee are not seated properly and are not aligned as they should be. This can happen when the knee structures are abnormal. Some people are born with a dislocated knee. Most commonly, knee dislocations occur when a traumatic event moves the bones of the knee joint with great force. It's an emergency and very painful.
